History: ..Moira MacTaggert is a
brilliant genecist who won the Nobel Peace Prize for her work and
used the prize money to found her own mutant research facility on
Muir Island off the coast of Scotland a few years ago. Moira has
been with Charles Xavier from the beginning, they met in college
and quickly became friends and much more. After Xavier left to
fight in the Vietnam War, Moira and he drifted apart. Moira
married Joe MacTaggert after medical school who soon became
abusive, beating her regularly, but she was too proud to mention
the abuse in her letters to Xavier. After spending some time in
the hospital, raped and beaten by Joe, she decided to abandon
him, and though he refused to divorce her, finding useful to have
a wife with a Nobel for his political career, he didn't care
enough for her to try to persuade her to stay. Moira then learned
that she was pregnant, but told nothing to Joe or Xavier. She
gave birth to a son she called Kevin on her own. Unfortunately,
the boy was a mutant so powerful in reality warping that his body
was not able to contain the enormous energy inside. Moira had to
lock him in a specialized cell on Muir Island to avoid his death.
After many long months of tests she decided that alone she
couldn't figure out how to help him, so she decided to return to
Xavier to learn a way to help her son there.
