Contributions to the Math World (in brief) and Year Accomplished

-First big mathematic discovery for Peano. Giuseppe Peano proves that if f(x,y) is continuous then the first order differential, or rate of change, equation dy/dx=f(x, y) .

-Peano publishes his book Geometrical Calculus, which contains a chapter on mathematical logic. He creates the symbols used today for "belongs to a set of" and "there exists" .

-The pamphlet Arithmetices principia, nova methodo exposita is published. It is in this pamphlet that the Peano Axioms are published.

-Peano invents his space-filling curve. Java applet on this topic at http://www.cs.utexas.edu/users/vbb/misc/sfc/Oindex.html

- Peano founds Rivista di matematica, a journal that focuses primarily on logic and the foundations of mathematics . It is through this journal that Peano begins to make a lot of people angry by proving their theorems wrong.

-Peano writes a book that would be used as a math resource for professors. It was called the Formulario Mathematico. Although very clever and thought out, it fails to gain any success in the classroom

-Peano is forced to leave his teaching job at the royal air academy

-Peano unveils a new language to be used around the world, particularly for use in the science. This does not happen, another failure.

to 1931- Nothing of any significance in this block of time occurs

-Giuseppe Peano dies at 74 years of age
